Tingshas, the bronze alloy-made Tibetan Cymbals, binded together with the leather string, are  used by Tibetan and Buddhists as ritual aids and prayers. The word ‘Tingsha’ is derived from the two Tibetan syllables: “ting” which refers to the sound made by the metal, and “Sha” means hanging. These are the circular chimes that have chants or energy embedded around the outer surface. 

The Tingsha bells have the ancient roots and cultures to Tibetan sound healing practices. They are also called the “meditation bells” because of their melodious and harmonizing tune which helps in making our state of mind calm and peaceful.

The 7 metals used in making these cymbals are connected with the days and planets which goes as: Gold as Sun and Sunday, Silver as Moon and Monday, Mercury as Mercury and Tuesday, Copper as Venus and Wednesday, Iron as Mars and Thursday, Tin as Jupiter and Friday, Lead as Saturn and Saturday. The tingsha are hand made by the casting method.

You can simply just hold them by the leather strings , maintaining the balance between them and strike each other. Never hit on the outer face of the tingsha where there is decoration or mantras/ printings are carved, do it always on the rim.
