Gong, named after the sound it produces when struck, is a musical instrument in the percussion family. It can have either a definite or an indefinite musical pitch. There are varieties of gongs found based on their sizes, styles and shapes. But basically,we can consider them of two types. Suspended Gongs and Bowl Gongs.
Tibetan Gong is one of the oldest musical instruments in the world. The earliest written mention of the gong was in China in the 6th century. Earlier times, gongs were struck to announce the arrival of the Emperor or other important political and religious figures.
Gong meditation
Gongs are not only the musical instrument but are also used as one of the main sound therapeutic equipment in meditation and yoga sessions and is called Gong Meditation or Gong Yoga.or sometimes Gong bath as practitioners literally bathed in the gong sound waves.
